I support laws that are being passed throughout the country to prohibit trans-athletes from competing in women’s sports. Everyone should have a place to compete, and everyone has a right to participate in sports. The question is how can women compete fairly against trans-athletes when the advantages are overwhelmingly in favor of trans-women? This is not a matter of discrimination against transgenders. All should be treated with decency and respect. It is about ensuring that female athletes are able to compete on a level playing field, against other females. Multiple studies show that transgender women have an unfair advantage over biological women. Men are naturally bigger, stronger, and faster – regardless of hormone therapy. The issue is complex for parents of transgender children who may feel discriminated against and unwelcome. As your senator, I will vote for and sponsor legislation that will maintain the integrity of women’s sports and find a balanced solution that works for everyone.
